Back In Time
Back in 1993 when I was still at Secondary School, and already a veteran Harrison Ford fan, I discovered Film Fairs. I was a regular reader of Empire Magazine , and in the classified discovered there were monthly collectors events at (former) The Dominion Hotel, Manchester. This is where Paul Shipper and I met as we both tried to purchase the same collectable!
What started out as a rivalry for getting to Harrison Ford collectables first, blossomed into a friendship of two like minded teenager. We had the same hero, of course an interest in movies, art, and music. So we used to hang out regularly and discuss all things therein.
Following His Dream
I was sadly to give up on art at college (the course was hideous), and haven’t really picked up a pencil or brush since. Drama, and later music became my calling. I always new Paul had a great talent, and new one day it would be recognised. I watched in amazement over the years as he kept the faith, and kept getting better and better.
Inspired by his other hero Drew Struzan, who himself is no stranger to drawing Harrison Ford, Mr Shipper went on to work on many of the same franchises. He’s travelled the world, and worked for many more of his heroes.
